About the Site

The Picky Vegan website is focused on cooking and recipes, with a sampling of restaurant highlights, health and wellness topics, social activism, participation in the vegan community and a little vegan fashion to round things out- things that are part of life as a vegan human being.

This website is for informational and entertainment purposes only and is not a substitute for medical advice, diagnosis or treatment.

About the Author

Jodie, also known as pickyvegan, went vegetarian in 2004 and fully committed to veganism in 2007. She’s a board-certified Family Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and a board-certified Music Therapist who holds licensure as a registered nurse, mental health counselor and nurse practitioner. She loves to cook, be it from cookbooks or from her own head. She’s a bit of a picky eater, with a special distaste for mushrooms, seaweed, raw tomatoes, and eggplant, among other things, though she’s discovered along the way she’s a little more open-minded than she once thought.

About the Recipes

Jodie is a picky eater, and the recipes shared are of course ones that she likes. The recipes are not geared towards children for the most part, but rather for an adult picky eater who does enjoy onions, garlic and “hot” spices (in moderation). So what makes it picky? The recipes for the most part do not contain things like mushrooms, eggplant, tomatoes and seaweed, though there are some exceptions. Jodie has gotten a little less picky over her time as a vegan- it can happen!
